25 Favorite Things

I was going through my old hard drives the other day and found this list. I remember a new boyfriend, in an attempt to get to know me better, asked me to make a list of my top 25 favorite things. This is what I came up with.

  1. Eating fresh strawberries in my dad’s garden, that are still warm from the afternoon sun
  2. Watching the sunset on top of Cadillac Mnt. with a warm summer breeze
  3. Listening to a new album from start finish.
  4. Cherries & Fresh blueberries
  5. Sitting at the end of my dock, in the dark, listening to the water and watching the stars
  6. The anticipation just before a first kiss
  7. Seeing something in someone that they don’t see themselves
  8. The smell of leaves in the fall
  9. Giving my kitty a kiss, in the middle of his forehead just above his nose
  10. The feeling I have after riding
  11. The feeling I have after rowing
  12. Holding someone’s hand
  13. Waking up in the morning and knowing I don’t have to get up if I don’t want to
  14. The Cambridge side view of Boston at night, along the Memorial Drive
  15. Unexpected gifts
  16. Giving unexpected gifts
  17. Kissing the top of my horse’s nose in the winter, when it’s warm from the sun
  18. A good, long cry
  19. Pollo al vino bianco at Sarenceno’s in the North End
  20. Being woken by Roy Orbison, Patsy Cline or Judy Collins
  21. Laying on the floor right in front of the wood stove in my old house on Sunday mornings
  22. My dad’s blueberry buckle, fresh out of the oven
  23. Making a good egg’s benedict
  24. The first sip of a delicious bottle of wine
  25. Being the first one to walk through a fresh patch of snow
